Thomas Richards Charity

A beloved member of our family, Matt Moscato, died on June 12, 2005. His untimely passing inspired the creation and name of our charity, “Thomas Richards,” from the once owned clothing line by Matt “Thomas” Moscato, and business partner, Brant “Richard” Wiwi. We believe using his business name for our charity is an honorable way to celebrate Matt Moscato’s life. The charity was created to help people in six degrees of separation. The goal of our charity events is not only to raise money for a worthy cause, but also to bring people together, in the spirit of enjoying life’s purpose. In hopes of being inclusive, we strive to keep these events affordable and entertaining with 100% Volunteer Support. Consequently, we enrich our lives and hopefully inspire others to do the same as Matt did for us.

🌟 Let's Celebrate Mckenzie Gruzwalski! 🌟

McKenzie's journey with TRC began at the tender age of 12, inspired by her Aunt Robin's heartfelt tales about the incredible work of our charity. Since then, she has been an indispensable part of our family, spreading joy and making a real difference in the lives of others.

One rainy day, McKenzie's dedication shone brightly as she joined forces with our team to provide yard work assistance for a disabled Veteran. Despite the weather, her positivity and determination lit up the day, showcasing the true spirit of compassion and service.

Year after year, McKenzie's commitment has only grown stronger. Starting from helping with our annual golf outing to capturing precious moments through her camera lens, she's truly a beacon of inspiration. Her desire to document our events reflects her deep belief in preserving memories and honoring the legacy of our dear friend, Matt Moscato.

Through McKenzie's eyes, we witness the power of community coming together, extending hands of support to those in need. Though she never met Matt, she embodies his spirit through her unwavering dedication and compassion, keeping his memory alive in every act of kindness.

McKenzie, your dedication and kindness are the heart and soul of Thomas Richards Charity. Thank you for being a shining example of goodness and for making the world a brighter place, one act of kindness at a time. Here's to many more years of making a difference together! 🌟💙

Service Dog for an 11 year old Amputee

Help us raise funds for Bethany Douglas daughter’s service dog-

Written by Bethany Douglas

Our 11-year old daughter suffered a horrific infection earlier this October which led to permanent organ damage and her right leg being amputated above the knee. She was so very sick and we lost her multiple times, but God is so good and she’s on the mend! Truly miracles still happen and our God is still in the miracle-making business! We are grateful to have her back but her road to recovery, therapies, prosthetics, and finding her new normal will take many months. This tenacious girl has a fighting spirit like no other child we’ve ever met and she is such a blessing to our family- we and all our amazing friends and family are committed to walk every step of the way back to health with her.

She is dealing with so many new, bewildering, and painful circumstances that our family thinks a dog will do wonders for her. Being super medically complex (even prior to this incident) having that extra doggy-sense for fevers, infections, and seizures will be an invaluable help to us. Plus the help with balance and coordination while still helping her be independent is so needed. When I told her the other day, still in the PICU, that we would be getting her a dog, her eyes grew wide and that crooked smile that she’s known for lit up her whole face. She’s apparently been telling all her staff that she’s getting a dog!

As many of you know, these dogs are highly trained and invaluable to their companions- but that comes at no small cost ($15,000 plus general care expenses – studies estimate between $25,000-35,000 for the life of the dog!) Unfortunately neither Medicaid nor any private insurance will help pay for any of their cost.  we need a down-payment of at least $7500 (the rest is due upon completion of the training). The entire training program will run 8-12 months so getting this off the ground asap will help.

The family has raised $3000.00 so far and Thomas Richards Charity will donate the remaining $4000.00 if our community can help us raise the other $8000.00.  This is the time of year to help others in need and to take advantage of those end of the year tax exempt donations. 100% off you donation goes to the purchase of this service dog.  TRC pays the Gofundme fee’s.

Stephanie Methven Breast Cancer Battle

She blinked her eyes and her whole life flipped. The doctor came in and told her, ” You have breast cancer. ” Her walls came crashing down. I’m only 33. I’m engaged and raising 6 kids. I just had a baby girl 6 months ago.  This can’t happen to us, to me.

This is where Stephanie’s Methven life changed in May 2019. Our friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. After multiple tests the cancer has called for aggressive action. She is still in the beginning steps of receiving a series of 8 chemo infusions over 16 weeks. We are hoping this combat and kills any cancer cells in her body, as well as, reduces the size of her tumors. Each cycle leaves her bedridden, drained and with symptoms such as neuropathy and diminished brain and body functions that may never go away. The next phase will be a double mastectomy (which will be a difficult, painful and long recovery mentally and physically), six weeks of everyday radiation that will leave her physically exhausted along with other symptoms this brings along, followed by reconstruction surgery. This process will happen most, if not all, of next year.

Stephanie has a long and rough road to go, but she has been so strong mentally and emotionally. ” I am determined to get through this to watch my children grow up and be here with them through their lives”, Stephanie told
me.  She said, “I will not be defeated by this cancer.” Although she is trying to stay positive during this time, this battle comes at the price of Stephanie not being able to work, forcing her family to stretch their finances.

Due to unforeseen expenses between treatments, surgeries and becoming a one income family, we want nothing more than to help ease her stress by giving her financial peace of mind. Please join all of us and Thomas Richards Charity in contributing to this rewarding cause, 100% goes to Stephanie and her family.  We are grateful and humbled by any and all donations.

Our Mission
Helping those in need in our community.
Thomas Richards Charity’s purpose is to provide help and support to persons in need within our community. Our community is defined as a fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals, in service of helping others.

We deliver value through the design and execution of charitable acts in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

About Thomas Richards Charity
Thomas Richards Charity is  a 501(c)3 non-profit charity.

We believe using his business name for our charity is an honorable way to celebrate Matt’s life. The charity was created to help people in six degrees of separation. Six degrees of separation (also referred to as the “Human Web”) refers to the idea that everyone is at most six steps away from any other person on Earth, so that a chain of “a friend of a friend” statements can be made to connect any two people in six steps or less. Matt enjoyed life and took advantage of everything that life had to offer. Therefore, when Matt passed we were reminded how valuable life is and that we need to enjoy it more with the people around us. The goal of our charity events is not only to raise money for a worthy cause, but also to bring people together, in the spirit of enjoying life’s purpose. In hopes of being inclusive, we strive to keep these free casino slots events affordable and entertaining. Consequently, we enrich our lives and hopefully inspire others to do the same as Matt did for us.
