Cash boxes for Cory’s Children

On Monday March 12, my friend Cory Ehlers and co-worker was killed by her husband and now her four children are left without any parents. Thomas Richards Charity in conjunction with the family started a GoFundMe to create a trust for these four children. They have a long road ahead of them, to recover from something so tragic.

To support these children, donation boxes to support Cory’s Children were placed at the following local businesses:

Sylvan Glen Golf Course, Chateau De Vin & Auburn Sportsmens Bar

A big thanks to all those who donated; thank you for helping us help this family.

Noodles & Company Benefit Cory Ehlers

Cory Ehlers children needed our help; on Friday April 6, Noodles and Co. on Rochester Rd in Troy sponsored a benefit for Cory and her children. 50% of all proceeds went directly to help benefit Cory Ehlers children; we had a wonderful turnout and we thank all who came to support the Ehlers children.

Thank you on behalf of the family and Thomas Richards Charity.

Donations for Cory Ehlers children

On Monday March 12, 2018 Cory Ann Ehlers’ life was taken by the man who promised to love her forever.  This is a tragic loss to her four children, parents, siblings and to everyone she ever met.  She was an active parent at Brooklands Elementary School in Rochester Hills and a long-time staff member at Camp Ticonderoga in Troy. She was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend and person.  She sparkled.

Cory has 4 children, Joshua (23), Jonathon (14), Alyvia (9) and Nathan (8). They are now without parents and have long rough road ahead.  This is something that no child should ever have to deal with.

Cory had an amazing heart, she loved everyone she met and would have given her last dollar to help anyone, even when she had nothing to give.  Her positive attitude and openness allowed her to be instant best friends with everyone she met.  When she hugged you, she really hugged you, a crushing hug that would make you feel loved and accepted, no matter what.

To quote our family friends John and Paul (Lennon and McCartney); “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”  Cory gave love to everyone, we were all given unconditional love every time we were in her presence.

Her children needed our help, and they still all have lots of healing to do with the loss of both their parents. With your donations, all funds went into creating a trust for Cory’s children, to help them with this tragic and senseless death of their mother.  As of May 2018, we have raised over $14,000 for the Ehlers children’s’ trust fund. Thank you for helping us help them.

Thank you from Josh, Christy, Casey, Murphy, David and Thomas Richards Charity.

Thomas Richards Charity is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity, an exempt organization “helping those in need in our community” as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the internal Revenue Code.

Briarwood Heating and Cooling

I want to tell you about two amazing people Lee Deel and Renee Deel, owners of Briarwood Heating & Cooling. Thomas Richards Charity was working with a family that needed help. They were living in their trailer using an electric heater to keep them and their 3 month old baby warm, since their furnace was broken. Lee installed a new furnace without batting an eye, while we worked with the state to help out. Unfortunately, the state wasn’t able to provide the funding. Again, Renee and Lee didn’t bat and eye, they covered the whole cost of the furnace and installation ($2500.00). That is what good people do when they see people in need. We are so lucky to have these two as a part of the Thomas Richards Charity community! This is not the first time they have helped people in need as they have been a sponsor of the Matt Moscato Charity Golf for years.
Thank you again

Strike Out Leukemia

This was our chance to help out Brandon Matja, a Sophomore at Henry Ford II Strike out Leukemia. Lots joined the fun Cosmic bowling at Imperial Lanes in Clinton Township on the evening of December 22, 2017. The night consisted of raffle baskets given to drawn winners, delicious food consumed, and glow sticks lighting up the alley.

For those unable to make the bowling event but still wanting to help, a GoFundMe was made, which resulted in  $135 was donated to Brandon and his family to help Strike out Leukemia. All the proceeds went to help Brandon and his family.

Thank you to all those that came out to support Brandon, and thank you to all those who donated.

Noodles & Company Benefit for Deerfield Elementary

On Thursday, December 21, 2018 we aided Deerfield Elementary’s S.A.I.L.S program. This program teaches Moderately Cognitively Impaired children (MoCI) for kids grade K-5; the curriculum includes teaching basic life skills like preparing meals. As a group, they incorporate these life skills with school subjects like Social Studies; for example, to learn culture, a traditional meal from each of 50 States is selected and prepared. The kids decide on the ingredients and the teacher, Megan, gets the groceries by using her own money out of pocket. What Megan and teachers alike at Deerfield Elementary are doing to benefit these students is phenomenal, and we wanted to support the hard work and dedication to serving and educating the S.A.I.L.S program. We achieved this with support from Noodles and Co. in Troy off Rochester Road; they supported the program by donating 50% of all proceeds directly to the S.A.I.L.S program.
The night was a success and Deerfield Elementary’s S.A.I.L.S program was heavily supported. Thank you to all that came out; thank you for helping us help them.
